Samsung recently launched the 4K Gear 360 camera and plans to introduce more imaging devices that can record VR content. However, due to the recent market trends and customer preferences, the company may abandon traditional digital cameras.
According to a Samsung official's conversation with "investors," the company no longer "manufactures and sells digital cameras." For most customers, this move did not make much difference, because ordinary digital cameras are being replaced by rapidly improved smartphone cameras, and those who want to shoot professional-quality images have opted for non-reverse cameras or SLR cameras.
Samsung will continue to innovate in other imaging areas, with the Gear 360 camera and smartphone camera being the main directions. Gear 360 was launched for the first time last year and has now launched a second version.
